$\bar{k_{0}}$ is the mean number of cognitive errors in transition for the people who had zero errors at baseline (at the zero state) and P _0dis the probability of 5-year mortality for the people at the zero state (with zero cognitive errors at baseline). The increments β ₁ and β ₂ (for cognitive transitions and mortality, respectively) show how these values change with the baseline error state number. Note that the background parameters $\bar{k_{0}}$ , ln(P_od) are significantly different between two transitions while the increments (β ₁, β ₂) are not.
